How It Started...

The story of Shelby and Joe is like most of your typical love stories, but with one glaring difference. It starts in the dim basement of a hospital during a world pandemic. Joe had worked at U of M for a while when Shelby started. It’s hard to say love at first sight for these two, with everyone wearing masks (probably the only reason Joe had a chance). It was a long while before they saw each other’s full face. But Shelbys flowing blond hair and kind eyes immediately had Joe enamored. It began simple, with hidden glances and extra trips returning clipboards to the reception area. For some reason Joe was always the one returning those darn things. After a short time, Joe was approached by Shelbys co-worker. She informed Joe that Shelby thought he was cute. Boy o boy did this send Joe into a frenzy. He began trying to muster up the courage to talk to her. With each clipboard he became more and more brazen. Till finally, he managed to say hi. I know it doesn’t seem like much, but that was a big step for Joe. Especially since Shelbys co-worker had lied. She didn’t do it out of malice, she just thought they would be cute together. Joe thought that Shelby was playing it pretty cool for someone who already thought he was cute. Playing hard to get he thought. So, Joe kept up the act of tough guy and clipboard wrangler. It took some time for Shelby to warm up to this bald guy who keeps trying to talk to her. Need I remind you that she had no idea her coworker told Joe anything. After months of Joe going missing from his department, the two got to know each other more and more. And eventually ended up going on their first date. As they say, the rest is history.
